We had a nice turnout this day. Dyan Graybeal called the meeting to order at 12:08, Sue Clarkson led us in the pledge and Stub Clarkson said the Invocation. The Clarkson's have recently returned from their winter sojourn to Arizona, it was wonderful to see them!
SUNSHINE DOLLARS Dyan Graybeal talked about her son racing cars in Meridian, and how much fun it is to spend an evening out there. She's off to San Diego next week. Lisa Peterson talked about school being out (She teaches at Boise State) and she has no plans to do any summer teaching. Good for you Lisa! Lisa also talked about how wonderful is was to see her parents Clarkson's back with us. Barbara Callahan talked about our exhausting trip to California a couple of weeks ago.
Dyan again talked of the need of help at the concession stand at the fields this weekend for the President's Cup soccer tournament this Fri (4:30 PM) Sat (8:30 AM) and Sun (8:30 AM) And ... A reminder from Dyan that the annual MSTI (Mountain States Tumor Institute) picnic for kids with cancer will be held Saturday July 9th at Municipal Park. More later!
Kevin Kluckhohn has been involved with a great program called HOBY (Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership) This amazing program helps the teenagers of Idaho.
HOBY programs provide youth selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences. HOBY also provides adults with opportunities to make a significant impact on the lives of youth by volunteering.
Under the leadership of Kevin, our Club, along with the Caldwell Optimists, will hold the annual HOBY picnic Saturday June 18th. It will be held at the Boone Memorial Presbyterian Church, 406 S. 14th Ave. Caldwell, ID 83605. Honest ... just being with these great teenagers is quite an experience. They are wonderful!
Again .. One major point that was raised was the funds being spent on outside groups to man the concession stand during the Optimist Youth Football season. The concession stand is the Boise Noon Optimist Club's main source of income for the year and we've been spending a lot of money on others to run it. Sooo ... we are asking people in the club and those connected with the OYF to PLEASE volunteer to work one four hour shift per season.
