TUESDAY JULY 23, AT THE TWIN DRAGON.

Because of the 5th Tuesday of the month there will be no meeting Tuesday July 30th.
Julie Wootton

Hello Folks,
Rocky Jackson

Boise Optimist president Scott Muir gaveled the meeting to order at 12:04 PM. Don Gunner led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Stub Clarkson said the Invocation.

Sunshine Dollars:

Don Gunner is now working at ICON and from that company Mary Gilman says "HI." Many said thanks to those who worked on the 7 or 7 high school football competition. Sue Clarkson said her daughter is coming home from Ireland. Stub Clarkson talked of an email he received from Richard Buchanan in Florida.

Our speaker this day was Joni Wootton from Blue Cross. She had a power point presentation and talked of open enrollment from October 2013 to March 2014. This was her first presentation on this subject and she did a great job.

Rocky Jackson's ticket was pulled, he won $4.00. We now have as new system for the raffle. We bought a new deck of cards, and in that new deck was a JOKER. It was added to the deck. If you happen to pull the JOKER ...you will pay $5.00. THAT'S GOING TO BE INTERESTING!!!!!!!!!

TUESDAY JULY 9, AT THE TWIN DRAGON

Boise Optimist president Scott Muir gaveled the meeting to order at 12:04 PM. Don Gunner led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Steve Oliver said the Invocation.

Sunshine Dollars: Sue Olive took her grandkids to the Boise Zoo. Dyan Graybeal has a new car. Lisa and Rick Peterson are new grandparents of Lilly, a beautiful girl. Congrats Will & Jessica Longstroth. Don Gunner has a new job!

Scott Muir said his daughter Stephanie is visiting at NASA in Houston. Pat Brown's son got married. Larry Highley introduced his lovely daughter Jody Watson.

Ballots were passed out for new Boise Optimist Officers for 2013 - 2014.

Dyan Graybeal and Larry Highley collaborated and bought new Boise Optimist license plate frames. You get two for $5.00.

This year's Mountain State's Tumor Institute (MSTI) picnic will be this Saturday at about 11:00 AM at Municipal Park, 500 S. Walnut St. Boise. Please come for a couple of hours to help serve these kids with cancer!

Our speaker this day was Kim Ivacek from Hope's Door Shelter. This facility houses and protects women who have experienced domestic violence. Kim showed a 7 minute DVD that absolutely shocked us all! I'll have to admit I've never seen photos of women so very battered and abused! Terrible!

Kim said they took care of 6,785 women and children last year, and that number will probably grow to 7,000 this year. They subsist on donations. They were $300,000 short last year. You can help at www.aafvhope.org.
