BOISE NOON OPTIMIST CLUB NEWSLETTER FOR DECEMBER 2013

BOISE NOON OPTIMIST CLUB NEWSLETTER FOR DECEMBER 2013

December 16th, 2013

HELLO FELLOW OPTIMISTS

This letter is running a little late because I wanted to let some of December die down so it's a little less hectic. I hope everyone is well and enjoying the season

The previous months plus accomplishments include, but are not limited to

A. The Hays House Christmas auction went well, thanks to everyone that helped and participated. We made enough money to get gifts for about 14 kids. I'm sorry I couldn't be there; I was having my go-round with whatever was going round.

B. The BYSC and the BNOC canceled the December board meeting because there was nothing of sufficient importance that couldn't wait.

C. The by-laws committee met several times, but couldn't come up with enough significant changes, in my mind, to warrant the necessity of a full membership vote. Maybe next time.

D. The Meridian Optimist club, the Capitol Lions club and the USSVI (United States Submarine Veterans Inc.) are all considering helping us with our concessions this upcoming year. The details still need to be worked out and agreed upon. THIS IS OUR NEXT BIG CONCERN!!!!

E. Our regular meetings were fairly well attended, would like to see a lot more attendance at these. It's about the only place you will have to express your concerns and ideas. Let's pick up our attendance.

F. Completed our last BSU BB game for 2013, 7 down and 9 to go. The remainders are all the conference games.

G. Finally got the figures compiled for the concession year and it looks like we put about $5000.00 in our coffers. It also looks like we are going to need it for the next year.

UPCOMING EVENTS

A. December 17th, 6:30 pm at Casa Mexico, Dinner and presentation.

B. December 21st, @:00 gates, 3:30 Game time, Famous Idaho Potato Bowl programs. We get 1.00 for everyone we sell, if interested contact Mark Anderson and hope for good weather and turnout.

D. December 27th Friday, 5th Tuesday for December, sat Dyan and Doug''s place. (If she is well enough). $10.00 limit on gifts exchange, bring one, take one. Pot luck on food (don't know of any theme). I'm thinking if everyone brought $10.00 worth of scratcher's lottery tickets we could scratch them there and donate any proceeds to our projects. (just an idea)

E. January 4th, 11th, and 18th Saturdays, 6:00 gates, 7:00 game BSU BB.

F. January 25th, Saturday, 3:00 gates, 4:00 game BSU BB.

G. January 29th, Wednesday 6:00 gates, 7:00 game, BSU BB.

H. Our normal dinner, lunch and board meeting schedule, as of right now. Please everyone attend.

I. Seems almost like a vacation after December.

I want to emphasize how much we depend and how important our concessions are. We need to get them figured out as soon as possible to allow for going on. My house is available for any committee meeting anyone wants to have, but we need to get going in January. Right now I'm calling for committee meetings on the 9th and the 23rd of January, 7:00 at my house (655 W. Berwick Dr until somewhere else is found. These are both Thursday nights.

I see that Gary is up and about again, (water skiing soon???) recovering well, I think and hope. Dyan has been struggling with a cold and cough, Hope she is improving, and gets better soon.

That's about all for now, I know I left stuff out, I just don't know what it is, so please accept my apologies for anyone I've slighted.
