Newsletter May 8

Jake Gerard, DDS was the guest speaker this week

Hello All,

So that more Boise Optimist members have to opportunity to attend meetings, we are going to try a new meetings schedule.  We have added another nighttime meeting.  Here is what we are going to try for the month of June.

1st Tuesday - June 5 - Nighttime meeting at Fuddruckers on Eagle at 6:30 PM.

2nd Tuesday - June 12 - Noon at the Twin Dragon.  Speaker - Boise Chief of Police, Michael Masterson

3rd Tuesday - June 19 - Nighttime meeting at Casa Mexico at 6:30 PM.

4th Tuesday - June 26 - Noon at the Twin Dragon.

We need a new President Elect. Dyan and Sue cannot by Optimist International rules do this again. Please think about being a Co-President.

Dyan Graybeal gaveled the meeting to order at 12:11 PM. Cindy  Wall led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Stub Clarkson said the Invocation.
Sunshine Dollars:  Dyan is going camping with her family.  And she just had her 60th birthday.   (Ah to be 60 again!)  Stub Clarkson talked about Bill Holstein's funeral.  Stub led the ceremony.  Stub said that when times are bad, many times he will talk to his deceased mother for solace.  Stub's wife Sue exclaimed:  "You never talk to my mother!"   The laughter lasted for many minutes.  Gary Bassett said the Optimist Youth Football sign-ups are going well.  "We have about 1,600 so far and will probably get to 1,900.  Online sign-ups are at about 55%."
Our speaker this day was Dr. Jake Gerard.  He talked about devices for your mouth to help you breathe if you have obstructive sleep apnea.

Yours in optimism,
Walt and Barbara Callahan
